Title 1 Parent Involvement Policy

Franklin Discovery Academy recognizes the importance of parental involvement in the overall success of our students. Parents partner with the school to help our students achieve academically. As a Title 1 Targeted Assistance School, we must create and support a strong parent-school partnership.

Franklin Discovery Academy will involve parents in developing its LEA plan Parents will be invited to participate in the development of the school plan at yearly Title 1 planning meetings to be held at the beginning of the school year. Parents will be notified of these meetings at the Title 1 Orientation Night to be held in conjunction with the regular back to school night at the beginning of the school year. Parents will suggest and formulate changes or updates to the Title 1 plan with the school administration. The final plan will be approved by the school board.

Franklin Discovery Academy will involve parents in the school review and improvement process. Parents will be involved in the school review and improvement process by the school. Achievement data will be shared with parents through newsletters, emails, and the school report card. Parents are invited to give input regarding the academic goals of the school. The school will discuss the research based instructional practices used. Parents are also welcome to give direction in securing additional research based curriculum materials that align with academic goals.

Franklin Discovery Academy will provide coordination and technical assistance to promote quality parental involvement activities Effective parent involvement strategies will be taught during teacher and administration professional development. Parents will be included in school discussion about the effective use of resources. The school will strive to have involvement of the FSO and listen to parent feedback.

School Report Card

The school report card will be posted on the school website when available. It will also be sent to all parents by email and aspects of the report card will be explored during the Title 1 Orientation Night.
