School Supplies For 2018-2019

Kindergarten

Except for your child’s headphones, all other supplies are community supplies and so please do not label them.

  • 1 pkg washable markers
  • 1 pkg crayons
  • 24 #2 pencils
  • 2 boxes facial tissues
  • 1 composition notebook (to serve as their journal)
  • 1 container Lysol or Clorox wipes
  • I watercolor set (Crayola type)
  • I bottle hand sanitizer
  • 8 glue sticks
  • 1 bottle Elmer’s-type glue

1 labeled pair of headphones--simple is fine. They need to fit your child. Please no ear-buds, they are difficult for the children to use. They will use these every single day.  Please have headphones in labeled gallon sized Ziploc baggie.

1st Grade

  • Backpack: Every child must have a backpack with their first and last name on it. These will be hung on a specific hook outside the first grade homeroom. Since we have so many classes and teachers we need one reliable, convenient way to get all the papers home.
  • Headphones: Every child must have headphones or earbuds to use at the homeroom computers. These also need to be labeled with first and last name. Computer-based instruction is a vital part of the Franklin Discovery model and our students will use computers at least twice a day. Please make sure you buy headphones that are comfortable and durable. Look for these features: being foldable, having a non-tangling fabric cord, comfortable ear covers, and an adjustable headband. We have a hanging organizer to store them, but headphones will last much longer when also stored in a bag.
  • Our students have had great results with these models:

      • Sony MDR ZX110 Series Stereo Headset

      • JLab JBuddies Studio Wired Headphone

      • Kanen I39 On-Ear Foldable Headphones

  • Communal Supplies: Except for backpacks and headphones, all other school supplies are used communally. Please do not choose novelty editions or personalized items.
  • Every child must bring:

    • A backpack, with first and last name on it somewhere
    • headphones (with a storage bag, such as a drawstring pouch)
    • 3 purple glue sticks
    • 1 box Ticonderoga pre-sharpened pencils
    • 1 box Crayola crayons, 24-count
    • 2 spiral notebooks (avoid novelty covers, but ruling doesn’t matter)
    • 1 tissue box
    • 1 composition book (for the reading class, will be kept in the reading lab)
