Janine Phillips

Academic Coach

Hi, I'm Janine Phillips and I am thrilled to be working with the Kindergarteners here at Franklin Discovery Academy as an Academic Coach! Being the daughter of an elementary school teacher, I spent most of my childhood and teen years in my dad's classroom before and after school. I have fond memories helping him with bulletin boards, classroom organizing, and grading numerous spelling tests! Growing up I worked as a nanny, summer camp counselor several times, and in a daycare center. I have always enjoyed working with children!

I received my bachelor’s degree in Studio Art in 1994 from Principia College, but never left education far behind. I have taught Physical Education at a private school in Los Angeles, Preschool and 3rd grade at Challenger School in Lehi, was a reading intervention aide at Manila Elementary, and worked for Utah Virtual Academy as a high school mentor for 4 years. I have most recently been home-schooling my own kids. I have been married to my best friend and husband, Dustin, for 19 years and we have 3 great teenagers!

I am looking so forward to working with all of the amazing new faculty and staff here at Franklin Discovery.  I especially am excited about working with your children every day; to see them grow as inquisitive investigators, to daily challenge themselves to try and do new things, and to love and embrace the exciting adventure of learning!
