Emily Jorgensen

Kindergarten Teacher

I received my Bachelor of Arts in Music in Piano Performance from Brigham Young University. I earned my Master of Arts in Elementary Music Education, also from BYU. I hold a Kodaly certificate in choral education, as well as permanent certification in piano from Music Teacher’s National Association.

I have taught piano, solfege, and children’s music classes for 20 years in my own studio. I have also taught group piano classes at BYU.

I am an active adjudicator and lecturer throughout the Wasatch Front, and I have served in local, regional, and state positions in the Utah Music Teachers Association, as well as the Imaginations Arts Contest chair at Freedom Academy for several years.

Besides teaching my students, I love being a mom and I have four children, aged “in preschool” to “into Harry Potter.” I am still married to my high school sweetheart.

I'm excited to add a K-6 teaching license to my repertoire, and to apply all I have learned in the private sector to Franklin Discovery Academy’s unique learning model. I believe that making personal goals, participating in the decision making, and receiving one-on-one attention combine to form the best path to student learning and mastery. I am an enthusiastic supporter of Franklin’s philosophies as I have seen these same principles be successful in my private studio. I believe every child was born to learn and hopes to help the students in my classroom become their best selves.
