Student Hours

Our official academic day is from 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM. We offer before school and after school options that will extend the day to 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM at no charge to parents. Students must earn this privilege by staying in good academic and disciplinary standing with the school. Any Tier 3 offense and two or more Tier 2 offenses will result in a loss of this privilege. (Policy 5200-Student Conduct)

Attendance/Absence Reporting should be reported to the homeroom teachers. Please let teachers know of any absences your child will have regardless of the reason. Reporting this information to the homeroom teachers is critical to keeping accurate records at school.

Family Choice

Per Utah Admin Code R277.419-4, students must attend a minimum of 180 days AND a minimum of 990 hours per school year. With that in mind:

  • You may pick a start time between 7:30am - 10:30am on any 15 minute interval
  • You may choose an end time between 2:00pm - 5:30pm on any 15 minute interval
  • Students should be scheduled for a minimum of 6 hours per day and a maximum of 10 hours per day.
  • All students are assigned to a 90 minute Foundations class. This part of their schedule will not change during the year. Their Foundations class will be assigned based on their start/end time.
  • Students will not be scheduled for any class for which they can not attend the entire class.
  • The rest of the student schedule is based on 45-minute Engage class periods. Engage classes are offered from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm.
  • If you have special scheduling requests, please call the front office.
  • The school is open for 210 days. Students must be scheduled for at least 178 days.
  • Parents may choose to match Alpine School District's calendar of 178, or choose an extended school year that ends on June 30th.
  • By being open an extra 32 days during the school year, students are able to take time off during the school year with minimal hassle. We encourage family travel!

Pick-Up/Drop-Off Procedure

Here are our rules to have a safe and efficient environment for pick-up and drop-off.

  • When picking up or dropping off your child(ren), you MUST use the right lane closest to the school. This lane is ONLY for brief stopping in order to unload or load students.
  • The middle and left most lanes in front of the school are driving lanes. This is the only way to exit the school parking lot and these lanes must be kept clear. There is absolutely NO PARKING in the driving lanes and students will not be released to cars parked in these two lanes.
  • If you need to get out of your car for any reason, you MUST park in the parking lot to the west of the school. The exception to this rule is when picking up or dropping off a child to kindergarten or preschool/childcare.
  • Kindergarteners and preschool/childcare families may park in the right most lane by the kindergarten doors ONLY. You may not park here to come in and pick up students grades 1 - 6.

Please remember to follow these rules to keep our children safe during pick up and drop off.

Early Check-Out

If you need to check your child out earlier than his/her end time, you will need to come to the front desk with your ID. If you have plans to check another student who is not your child out who before his/her end time, you must have your ID and be authorized by the student's parent to do so.

For example, you have made play date arrangements with your son's friend, Bill. Your son's end time is 2:30, but Bill usually stays until 3:15. In order for you to take Bill home with you, Bill's parent will need to call the school ahead of time and authorize you to check him out. And you will need your ID.
