Anthony Eversole

Music Master/Lab Teacher

I am ecstatic to be counted among the talented team of master teachers here at Franklin Discovery Academy. My love for music runs deep and I truly look forward to sharing my knowledge and passion. Franklin Discovery Academy has placed a great emphasis and priority on the arts, and its students will reap the rewards. My philosophy of elementary music education is influenced by German composer Carl Orff and his “Orff Schulwerk” method: an innovative approach to childhood music education which integrates singing, playing, movement, and improvisation. Orff said: “elemental music is never just music. It is bound up with movement, dance, and speech, and so it is a form of music in which one must participate, in which one is involved not as a listener but as a co-performer.”

My training is centered in the vocal and dramatic arts and I believe that singing is requisite to the development a well-rounded musical mind. Though music has been proven to help students excel in other core disciplines, I firmly believe that music should be studied for the sake of its own merits. I grew up in Bountiful, Utah, and received bachelor degrees in vocal performance and choral music education from Utah State University with a dual licensure in secondary and elementary music education. I'm also a certified Orff Schulwerk instructor. I received my Master’s degree in Voice from the University of Oklahoma, and most recently graduated with a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in opera performance from the University of Maryland as a member of the renowned Maryland Opera Studio. I am a frequent performer of opera, musical theatre, recital, and concert works, and I maintain a private studio where I teach classical and contemporary voice. I am extremely looking forward to my return to Utah  to share my experience, energy,  and love for music with the Franklin Discovery Academy family.
